‘Israfil’ wins NETPAC award

Iranian film ‘Israfil’ directed by Ida Panahandeh has won the NETPAC Award of the 7th Iranian Film Festival Australia.

Iranian film ‘Israfil’ directed by Ida Panahandeh has won the NETPAC Award of the 7th Iranian Film Festival Australia.

‘Israfil’ is the second feature film by Panahandeh. The drama deals with human challenges and needs.

“The girl who loves Behrouz will return. The dead will return to life,” the movie’s synopsis reads.

The movie features Pejman Bazeghi, Hedieh Tehrani, Merila Zarei and Hoda Zeinolabedin.

The music for the movie was composed by Majid Pousti and the sound effects were finalized by Iranian sound designer Hossein Aboulsedq.

In Islam, the word 'Israfil' refers to the angel who announces the Day of Resurrection by blowing into a horn.

The Iranian Film Festival Australia is an independent cultural establishment that was founded in 2010 in Australia.

The 7th edition of the festival is currently underway running from October 26 to November 19, 2017, in six major Australian cities.
